The first two times we moved we literally found the house of our dreams within a few shots. Perhaps we are more picky but this time around we have seen 10? 12 houses and none of them really felt like they could be home. The one that did, we probably won't get because the owner isn't keen on children, or large dogs, or you know life.
It's been adventerous taking two young children house hunting though, and we've seen it all. Most of the houses were lovely but either too small, too boring, or too expensive and a combination of being boring/and small. The one house Phil fell in love with was the opposite -- too huge! Some houses had stinky basements thanks to the monsoon and that turned me off, but like I said...nothing felt like home.
One of the houses we saw belonged to a satanist, no joke. It was 105% terrifying - the houses property was on 6+ lushes acres with art everywhere, fire pits, rocks to climb, babbling brooks. I was walking around throwing my arms up going "we will live here.." but than I went inside and saw goats heads, goat horns, satantic art everywhere, and a (real) black bunny wandering around and shit got weird quick. The kitchen was so stinky I couldn't go through it to see the rest of the house, and the entire vibe was creepy, I felt like someone was watching me (besides the goats..)
The house we had our fingers crossed for was a 3 bedroom farmhouse in Bedminster on a bunch of acres that had horses on it. To live with horses for a year sounded really, really great and that was our longest visit because we had to climb bales of hay and do some heavy petting (ha ha)
But nothing yet!
I've narrowed my "future home wishlist sort of could be considered must haves" to the following:
Land. I don't want some tiny ass backyard bescause I have that now..I want land, and trees..a white picket fence would be the cherry on top and a barn? For goats? Bring it the fuck on.
Lovely kitchen. Lovely can mean different things to different folks but for us (me) it means having enough space to cook and play.
Character. I'm done looking at cookie cutter homes because no matter how new and shiny they may be they are so boring!
Saturday we will go look at more homes and all are a little quirky so cross your fingers for us okay?
