Autumn come on! Get it together! I don't want it to be 85 and humid, I want pumpkin patches and a CHILL.
With everyone around me getting colds I wanted to boost our immune systems a bit. My kids barely go to the doctor...in fact, I can't remember the last time they both went. I'm actually in the process of finding a holistic-minded doctor and I think I have found a few, so soon we will get well visits which I'm very excited about. All the doctors we've seen in the past have been medicore at best, and now that I've found a womans wellness center I love, I want a similarly warm caring enviorment for my babettes. But anyway, immue boosting! We don't do much but what we do do, helps. I thought I'd share the things I do (we do) to boost the kids (and ours) immune systems.
1 - Elderyberry Thyme syrup. It's like sipping on Christmas time, and it helps! We use True Botanica's Elderberry syrup and even little Wyatt takes it when we have been around people with colds that we don't particilarly want to catch. You can mix it with water or if you are feeling fancy SPARKLING water which is almost like a treat.
2. Vitamin C - this is questionable by some (as in does it really help) but it can't hurt so we take it. The kids get drops with Echinacia and I take capsules daily.
3. Garlic and honey. I recently made a jar of this myself..I just diced up onions and garlic and poured local honey on top and let it sit for a week...WA-LA! Yummy!
4 - Thieves oil on feets or diffused into the air if I remember. I just got my diffuser for the kitchen and I'm really enjoying it -- when my allergies were acting up I put a blend in that made me feel wonderful...I also put an energize blend in during the wee morning hours and oh it's just great. I love my oils.
5 - One supplement we recently started taking is Cod Liver Oil (flavored in strawberry..)
...and of course SLEEP. I think that getting proper sleep is just so important. It's maybe even the most important thing (for us anyway..) if I'm feeling a bit crummy and I go to bed very early and get a full nights (or close anyway since Wyatt wakes up muiltiple times still) I am okay in the morning. Coffee helps too : )
So bring it on King WInter! Bring it Autumn! The only sickness I truly FEAR are stomach bugs because aren't those the worst? We caught one a few winters ago and it was 3 days of toilet-fun along with shakey legs and dry toast. For all of us -- and being a momma to sick people while being sick yourself is probably on my list of top 10 sucky life-things.
I'm obviously in a very rambly mood so now I'm going to talk to my husband about, funny enough, elderberry syrup. I hope everyone that reads this has a lovely week!
